Upcoming Tariff Surcharges: What They Mean for Labeling Equipment Buyers—and How to Lock In Today’s Prices

If you follow global trade news, you’ve probably seen headlines about new tariffs taking aim at industrial components. Unfortunately, some of the parts that go into labeling machines, replacement modules, and integrated printer systems now fall under those duties. At Advent Labelers, transparency is part of our DNA, so we want to give you an early look at how these changes may (or may not) affect the price of your next purchase—and how you can still capture pre-tariff rates before they go live.

1. A Selective—Not Blanket—Impact

The tariffs target specific bearings, electronics, and alloy steel sub-assemblies used in certain product families. That means many of our best-selling machines and spare-parts kits will remain at current pricing. Only SKUs whose bill of materials includes the tariff-listed components will see an adjustment.

  • Hot-melt labelers (Advent 200/205): No change expected

  • Pressure-sensitive systems (Advent 300, TS-series): Small surcharge on units ordered after May 2025

  • Inkjet and hot-stamp printer add-ons: Component-based increase, varying by model

  • Common wear parts (rollers, belts, glue-pot gaskets): Unaffected

2. How We Calculate the Surcharge

We’re not interested in turning tariffs into a profit center. Any price revision will match the tariff rate applied to each imported component—nothing more. Our engineering team is also qualifying alternative U.S.-made parts to remove some products from tariff exposure altogether.

3. Shared Responsibility: What We’re Absorbing

Tariffs can add 7–25 percent to component cost. We’re eliminating or offsetting as much of that increase as possible through:

  • Bulk purchasing before the duty window closes

  • Redesigning assemblies to use domestic parts

  • Lean manufacturing tweaks that reduce labor time

Only the remaining fraction we can’t absorb will appear on the final price.

4. Timeline: May 2025 Effective Date

Revised pricing will take effect before the end of May 2025. Orders confirmed by signed quote or purchase order prior to the price-change notice will ship at today’s rates—even if the unit leaves our Los Angeles plant in June.

5. How to Secure Pre-Tariff Pricing

  1. Review upcoming expansion plans—Do you need another Advent 200 for summer runs? A backup printhead for Q4 promotions?

  2. Request a quick quote—Email or call with your container size, label dimensions, and required cpm. We’ll respond within one business day.

  3. Place your PO—Lock in the current price. Standard models ship in 3–5 days; customs in about a week.

Tip: Even if your cap-ex budget renews in July, a down-payment PO issued in April secures today’s price, and we can ship on your target delivery date.

6. FAQs

Question Answer
Will existing service contracts change? No. All preventive-maintenance and extended-warranty agreements stay fixed.
Are spare parts covered? Most common parts are tariff-free. If a specialty item is affected, the surcharge will be noted on your quote.
Can I mix pre-tariff and post-tariff items on one order? Yes. Only line items containing tariffed components will show the adjustment.

7. Our Commitment

We know every penny counts—especially for small and mid-size producers who depend on Advent to keep labeling costs low. That’s why we’re fighting these tariffs on three fronts:

  • Advocacy: Joining industry coalitions to seek exclusions.

  • Engineering: Re-sourcing or redesigning tariff-hit parts.

  • Customer support: Giving you clear, early guidance so you can plan ahead.

8. Next Steps

If you have any questions—whether it’s confirming a quote, understanding which SKUs will change, or brainstorming ways to stretch your labeling budget—our California-based team is ready to help.
